Active Equity Investment Analyst
Vanguard’s Quantitative Equities Group (QEG) is Vanguard’s only Internal Active Equity Manager and is responsible for researching, building, and managing portfolios to provide our Investors with the Best Chance of Investment Success via superior Risk-Adjusted Returns. QEG employs a rigorous, fundamentally based research process to uncover Factors that explain Investment Returns and a robust, risk-controlled portfolio construction and management process that allows us to take targeted risks while avoiding those that are not rewarded. As a member of the Domestic Alpha Team, you will have the opportunity to fully participate in the Team’s Quantitative/Systematic Investment Process through all aspects of the Investment Lifecycle including Idea Generation, Alpha Factor Research, Portfolio Construction, Portfolio Management, and Portfolio Analytics/Attribution.
Core Responsibilities:
Leverage QEG’s state of the art Data Platform to procure Data for Analysis and Research Projects Ensure Data and Inputs used in Research and Production systems are accurate and of high quality Conduct Quantitative Investment Research Projects including the development of Time-Series and Cross-Sectional Investment Models focused Alpha Factors and Factor Timing Participate in Portfolio Construction Research to help bridge the gap between theoretical Alpha Models and Implementable Portfolios Utilize programming languages such as Python and SQL to support Research Projects Make use of QEG’s cutting edge Research Platforms to backtest Investment Strategies and conduct Portfolio Simulations Contribute to the continued evolution of QEG’s Investment Process through self-education, independent learning, and idea generation Stay on top of the markets and economy to understand what is driving market and portfolio performance Work closely with senior team members on projects and assignments Clearly communicate ideas and progress with Team Members Qualifications:
Two years in the Financial Services industry. Investment management experience preferred. Undergraduate degree in finance, economics, mathematics, or statistics or equivalent combination of training and experience required. CFA preferred. Vanguard is not offering visa sponsorship for this position.
