Position Title: Associate, Quant Research

Location: 50 Hudson Yards, New York, NY 10001

Summary of Duties: Collaborate with both external service providers and internal data and technology teams to ensure the timely and accurate collection, warehousing, and aggregation of hedge fund risk and performance data. Work closely with client service teams to compile hedge fund and portfolio data from assorted sources into reporting deliverables as requested by BlackRock’s clients. Develop rigorous and scalable data management/analysis tools to support the data-intensive quantitative investment process. Improve the user interface and tools that consolidate hedge fund risk/return characteristics used by BlackRock and our clients. Assist in the dissemination of insights derived from the analysis of hedge fund risk and performance data to key stakeholders such as manager research, portfolio management as well as other members of the risk management team. Utilize tools and technologies like Python, statistical modeling.

Qualifications: Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, or a related field of study, and three (3) years of experience as an Associate, Portfolio Manager, Index Asset Allocation; Quantitative Risk Analyst; Commodities Analyst or related role. Employer will also accept a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, or a related field of study, and five (5) years of experience as an Associate, Portfolio Manager, Index Asset Allocation; Quantitative Risk Analyst; Commodities Analyst or related role. Must also have three (3) years of experience with: utilizing coding languages, including Python or R; performing statistical analysis utilizing machine learning techniques; developing and applying hedge fund strategies, including long/short equity and event; utilizing statistical techniques to influence the allocation of capital in an investment management organization; working with data structures to formulate investment decisions; and working with industry standard investment software, including MSCI Barra. If qualifying with a Bachelor’s degree, must have five (5) years of experience with the aforementioned skills.

For New York City only: The salary range for this position is $162,000 - $205,000. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including heath care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.
