Job Description Summary:

Reporting to the General Manager, Consumer Credit, this new role is critical in supporting the sustainable growth of PayPal’s Credit business across the UK, which offers both regulated and unregulated credit products to its consumers and merchants in those markets. It will focus on ensuring regulatory compliance guidance along with Credit Risk and Compliance strategies and relevant policies are understood, implemented and embedded. This is a dynamic role where understanding the PayPal two sided network and how Regulations support and impact consumers, merchants and PayPal is key.

Job Description:

Core responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with FCA/EMI Subsidiary guidelines and business readiness at all times for Credit Business
  • Manage and support the Credit Business, Marketing and Credit Risk functions in navigating Regulatory directives related to FCA initiatives such as Consumer Duty and the upcoming BNPL regulatory framework
  • Manage and oversee all customer facing touchpoints and support BU and marketing functions as part of the launch and ongoing operation of the new Brexit independent EMI subsidiary
  • The implementation of key regulatory deliverables in relation to the UK credit portfolio (PayPal Credit and BNPL)
  • Manage and oversee customer Credit related activities which impact across Credit Risk, Customer Services, Collections and Marketing
  • Provide functional leadership as a Credit SME between the Credit BU and PayPal’s Risk and Compliance organisation
  • Collaborate with internal teams (such as the Marketing, Analytics, Legal, Compliance, Govvernment Relations, Program enablement, FLOD, Credit Risk, product leaders etc.) to identify clear steps necessary to implement regulatory developments and mitigate related risks
  • Manage Business reporting of credit risk and compliance initiatives across UK and Global management committees.
  • Monitor relevant regulatory developments and changes and advise the Credit Team of potential impacts

Experience required:

  • 3+ years experience gained in a Financial/Operations organisation in a Credit Regulatory related role
  • Good knowledge of FCA credit requirements plus appreciation of broader regulatory landscape
  • Experience in partnering with and counseling senior business clients, particularly in the context of a rapidly changing and growth-oriented environment
  • Strong project management skills and change management experience.
  • Good analytical skills

Qualifications required:

  • Bachelor’s degree is desirable but not essential.

Skills & Abilities required:

  • Ability to prioritise, manage resources and focus on delivery
  • Strong communication skills in all formats (verbal, written) and ability to effectively communicate with all levels within the organisation.
  • Ability to build and manage relationships with merchants and third party vendors
  • An enthusiastic team player whilst able to ‘self start’ and work independently
  • High levels of integrity/trust with strong ethics and values
  • Enthusiastic and resiliant with the ability to work on own initiative as well as take direction
  • Ability to work within a matrix environment and cross functionally with commercial, operations and regulatory functions
  • Ability to interpret data and collate information

Knowledge required:

  • Knowledge of UK Consumer Credit Market and Regulatory Environment
  • Proficiency in external systems (Internet, Office Applications- particularly PowerPoint).
  • Possesses Business acumen
  • An understanding of the UK Payments Industry is desirable but not essential
