We are recruiting for a Data Scientist/ Analyst to join Lime’s growing Insurance team.
The Insurance team manages the renewal, negotiation, and maintenance of Lime’s insurance programs, and oversees the process for claims which are handled internally by our Legal team. The team owns external relationships with insurance brokers, carriers, and other strategic insurance partners; it also reviews Lime’s contractual insurance requirements with external parties such as cities and regulators.
In this role, you will support our Senior Risk Manager (who is a qualified FIA Actuary) and wider Insurance team, by setting up end-to-end analytical capabilities (pipelines, instrumentation, measurement, and modeling as required) to feed our data-driven decision-making on which levers to pull to impact insurance decisions and rider safety. You will be an integral part of investigating insurance claims trends and interacting with our external insurance partners. You will collaborate closely with our Trust and Safety team, the team monitors incidents, as well as working cross-functionally with a number of other internal teams within Lime (including Legal, Finance, and Data).
Key strengths of this role include curiosity, motivation, and technical abilities to operate independently and cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment. This is a remote/ hybrid position within the United Kingdom, Ireland, or Europe.

What You'll Do:
Gather, process, and check claims data and Lime rider data.
Analyze and complete data reporting requests within the Insurance team.
Create efficiencies in internal data-gathering processes by collaborating with our Legal and Finance teams as well as other Data Scientists/ Analysts within Lime.
Create efficiencies in external data-gathering processes by collaborating with our insurance partners.
Create a process to establish a link between external claims handled by our insurers and Lime’s internal rider data.
Collaborate with an external software vendor and internal and external stakeholders to implement a platform to house a complete view of our claims data.
In the longer term, collaborate with our Trust and Safety teams to expand this platform to include our incident data.
Investigate claims trends by analyzing claims and rider data.
Collaborate with our Senior Risk Manager/ Actuary, our wider Insurance team, and external stakeholders (including our insurers) to gather data insights and build claims forecasting models.
Monitor and analyse actual versus forecasted performance of claims.
Collaborate across different teams to improve rider safety, using a data-driven approach.
Collaborate with our Trust and Safety team in the analysis of incident data.
Be involved in the introduction of product features aimed at impacting insurance and increasing rider safety. Collect and analyse data to validate the impact of new features.
Collaborate with internal IT teams to build APIs for sharing data with/ receiving data from our external insurance partners.
Build dashboards to visualize insurance data.
About You:
Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g. engineering, sciences, math, statistics, business, public policy, or economics).
Comfortable with analyzing, finding patterns in, and visualizing data using Excel and SQL.
Hands-on experience with SQL. Prior experience in Python is preferable.
Hands-on experience with data pipelines and visualization tools.
Prior experience in Tableau is preferable.
Experience in managing and executing tasks throughout a project lifecycle (Design, Build/Configuration, Training, Testing, Deployment, and Support).
Project management experience or prior involvement in project work is preferable.
Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with and present to both technical and non-technical audiences
Prior industry experience as a data scientist or analyst within the insurance and/ or micromobility and tech is preferable.
Ability to effectively manage multiple initiatives at once.
Ability to anticipate the ongoing needs of the project(s). Excellent at improving feedback loops to prevent future problems.
Ability to simplify difficult problems into actionable and solvable tasks. Data-driven by nature, strong attention to detail, and obsessed with process improvement.
Self-motivated, energetic, and driven individual with the drive to learn new skills and grow with the role. Comfortable learning and adapting to new concepts and using new tools.
Fluency in speaking and writing in the English language.
