Function

Business Controls Department

The Mizuho Americas Business Controls Department (BCD) is a team of first

line of defense (1LoD) risk and control professionals performing essential enterprise control functions across the company including Third Party Services, Business Continuity Planning, Data Management Operations, Data Loss Prevention, and Business Risk and Control Services. The functions performed span all lines of business and corporate functions across the Americas region. The department is also accountable for spearheading the company’s efforts to understand and manage data privacy, fraud, conduct, reputational, and strategic risk. The department creates singular accountability and a “one stop shop” for all enterprise control services. The Mizuho Americas BCD is part of the Mizuho Americas Corporate Strategy & Administration Division.

The Data Management Office is responsible for effective and consistent

Data Management of the bank’s data which is deemed critical: Used in external reporting, used to continuously provide information to the bank’s board, and data whose deficiency can cause financial loss/severe Impact to the customer.

Summary

The new hire will work as a member of the DMO (Data Management Office), to

perform activities required to provide effective control of the data which is deemed critical to the bank.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for setting up DQ rules by gathering data quality requirements from the business users and IT, defining the DQ rules and getting approval from stakeholders, working with the Technical Data Analysts to build the DQ rules, testing the DQ rules, creating an issue remediation plan and obtaining business sign off.

  • Perform and track BAU data quality issues remediation and update the DQ rule specifications as required.

  • Coordinate the review and approval of data lineage documentation for the CDEs with business users, conduct the annual authoritative source system assessments and create Level 2 process flows and risk & controls matrices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, mathematics, physics or computer science

  • At least 3+ Years working experience in Financial Industry as a business or data analyst

  • Strong knowledge of Banking products

  • Strong communication skills: Both written and oral with technical and non-technical staff

  • At least 2+ Years working with Databases such as SQL Server & Oracle

  • Experience working in a Data management team and monitoring data quality or performing manual data lineage documentation

  • Detail oriented, organized, and thorough

  • Ability to thrive in a team-based environment

  • Motivated to continuously challenge, improve, and/or automate processes

The expected base salary ranges from $77,500 - $130,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications and licenses obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
