As a Senior Data Scientist your responsibilities will be focused on the
preparation, maintenance, analysis, and visualization of all data sources that
BlockFi currently has, or will have in the future. You will be expected to not
only meet your direct day to day responsibilities detailed below, but also
assist with helping to shape the future of BlockFi Analytics and Data Science.
Your Mission
- Deliver end-to-end BI solutions for Finance inclusive of data ingestion/aggregation, modeling, and visualization of descriptive and inferential statistics
- Automate data pipelines, help build new and maintain existing purpose-built data structures used across multiple business units
- Assist with various ad-hoc projects ranging from client analysis, business analysis, investor reporting, and internal KPI tracking
- Own relationships between stakeholders - both internal and external - in maintaining internal data platform, in depth data and business knowledge
- Create and maintain documentation on key internal data processes that helps to enable the team to train new team members, detail existing obscure data pipelines, and lay the foundation for automation
- Provide guidance to the organization surrounding how current processes, and changes to those processes will effect Reporting/Data Science in the short term, and long term
- Be a self starter that finds opportunities for development and can deliver solutions with minimal oversight
- Display intellectual curiosity and seek opportunities for personal and professional improvement
Your Expertise
- Proficient in SQL (Advanced), Python, Tableau (Or similar BI tools), Data modeling for Reporting (Relational DB and Warehouses), Excel/Google Sheets, Google Apps Script, and Reporting ETL automation, experience with Databricks is a huge plus
- Previous professional experience within a high growth, fast paced environment. (Larger startup experience is a bonus)
- Experience in building and maintaining Analytics infrastructure from the ground up is a plus
- A degree in a technical field such as Mathematics, Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science or similar field
- Direct experience managing Business Intelligence deliverables (Analysis and Visualizations), experience with predictive analytics using Machine Learning is a plus
- 5+ years of professional data experience (within Finance organization is preferred)
- Excellent problem solving skills, as well as the ability to work independently without need for constant oversight
- Strong critical thinking and analytical capabilities
- High attention to detail
- Adaptable to various environments and sudden changes
- Ability to embrace new technology, applications and solutions
- Desire to often work with people as well as be a self-motivated team player

The target annual salary range is $140,000 - $160,000 for US-based candidates.
Final salary may vary depending on experience, skills, level, location, and
other business considerations.
