Global Markets Quantitative Summer Program

RBC’s Global Markets Quantitative Summer Internship Program offers an unrivaled opportunity to join one of our highly technical quantitative trading or research development teams. You will be placed on a team made up of leading mathematicians, software engineers, and data scientists who are focused on developing solutions for RBC. RBC’s strategic objective is to find excellent candidates with a STEM/Computer Science background, hire them onto our platform, and promote the ongoing development of this junior cohort to become leaders in this space.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

As an integral part of the Global Markets Quantitative Internship Program, interns can expect to:

  • Apply and enhance their quantitative skills through empirical research projects
  • Back-testing trading strategies, solving optimal execution problems, or development of performance metrics are some examples of assignments
  • Develop market knowledge in a wide array of asset classes, including ETFs, Equities, Options, Futures, FX, Fixed Income, and Commodities
  • Analyze large data sets and perform market research to provide in-depth recommendations and ideas to senior colleagues
  • Generate new ideas by collaborating with highly technical teams to develop new technologies that will improve daily business
  • Assist in creating, implementing and monitoring complex algorithms in a wide variety of asset classes
  • Become immersed in a comprehensive education program for interns and junior traders/researchers that will develop critical quantitative skills and decision-making capabilities

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?

In selecting Summer Analysts and considering full-time offers, we look for the following:

  • Undergraduate, Masters, or PhD students in their penultimate year of study at an accredited college or university
  • Engaged in study of Math, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
  • Advanced programming skills, with experience in Python, Java, R, C#, or C++
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities and thrive in a fast-paced and challenging environment
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • A curiosity about financial markets and the concepts and technologies which underpin them

The good-faith expected salary range for the above position is $100,000 depending on factors including but not limited to the candidate’s experience, skills, registration status; market conditions; and business needs.
