Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated developer to join the Investment Management & Research department at Winton. You will be part of the Investment Platform Operations team working at the intersection of our Data, Strategy, Technology, and Infrastructure groups focused on delivering and operating a best-in-class quantitative investment platform. Our Strategy Managers and Researchers work with large datasets to analyse and build systematic trading strategies, and as a member of this team you will work closely with them to deliver tools and frameworks that facilitate maximum efficiency in testing, implementing, and monitoring their trading pipelines.

Amazon S3 serves as our primary data storage solution, and we make heavy use of Python libraries (e.g. Pandas) for data manipulation. Our data transformations are orchestrated in an event-based fashion using Kafka, and deployed into production using Octopus Deploy. Familiarity with some or all of these will be beneficial but not essential.

Your responsibilities will include :

  • Contribute to and lead engineering projects to deliver solutions that combine to create a high-quality platform for quantitative research and trading.
  • Automate and oversee trading critical workflows.
  • Interact with our Data Engineers and Strategy Managers to maintain expert knowledge of our data products and how and where they are used.
  • Coordinate with our SRE team to deliver operational stability of our investment platform and initiate tactical upgrades to the infrastructure we use when required.
  • Actively support the day-to-day operation of our trading pipelines by being a primary responder to issues, taking ownership of and solving real-time problems such that trades are sent to market in a timely fashion.
  • Partner with our Traders and Investment Operations teams to test and deliver the product specifications sought by our clients.

What we are looking for:

  • A Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics or equivalent technical field.
  • A desire to work in a hybrid technical and operational role at the heart of a dynamic data-centric enterprise.
  • 2+ years programming experience, preferably including Python, in a commercial setting.
  • A proven interest in quantitative finance and proficiency in handling financial data.
  • A commitment to engineering excellence and practical technology solutions.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
