About the Role

Wellington has been investing in private markets since 2003, and the Firm launched its first dedicated private equity fund in 2014. Today, we manage approximately $5 billion in assets across four private equity funds and co- investment program launched in 2017. As part of the continued expansion of our alternative’s capabilities, we have a multi-year plan to build a platform of private credit solutions across the risk spectrum, to meet the objectives of our global client base. We are seeking to recruit an Investment Specialist to join our Private Investments Team, which is responsible for oversight of certain Wellington-managed vehicles, with a focus on private credit. The Private Investment team is responsible for overseeing fund governance, product development, marketing, operations and servicing investors, as well as driving growth in our private’s business.

The Private Credit Investment Specialist position is a multi-faceted role supporting the business management, investment oversight, and client interface of private credit products. The person who fills this position will work on a wide range of business and investment-related activities including performing analyses that ensure portfolio integrity by providing oversight of portfolio positioning, performance, and risk exposures. The individual will also contribute to the development of new investment strategies and client solutions, conduct market and competitor analysis, evaluate product overlap and capacity trends, and prepare white papers and presentation materials that serve to differentiate our portfolios. Over time the individual will participate in meetings with clients, prospects, and consultants to discuss our private credit strategies and platform. We are looking for candidates with an entrepreneurial spirit to contribute to building a new business line within our organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES
The Private Credit Investment Specialist’s primary responsibilities will include the following:
• Collaborate with senior members of the Private Investment team to support the management and oversight of private credit products.
• Supporting sales and relationship management activities, including fundraising, marketing strategy, fee strategy, responding to ongoing investor requests, assisting with preparation of Annual Meeting materials and quarterly investor letters.
• Provide regular investment risk oversight for a set of private credit products; prepare and review legal documents, including portfolio characteristics, guidelines, RFPs and marketing materials to be shared externally with clients and prospects.
• Involvement in product development and product launch sequencing, including market analysis, competitor profiling, investment team assessment, client channel/geography demand trends, economic terms, and fund structuring.
• Creating innovative and insightful market content for current and prospective investors
• Participate in meetings with clients, prospects, and consultants to communicate our investment philosophy, strategy, portfolio companies, and performance.

QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate for this position will have a strong intellectual curiosity, working style versatility, communication skills, and demonstrated analytical and writing skills. While the Investment Specialist will work in a team-oriented environment, many projects will be self-directed, often under tight deadline. Other critical skills include the ability to display sound judgment, manage multiple priorities, organization/detail orientation, and taking ownership for outcomes.

Further qualifications
• At least 5-7+ years of experience in a related position, including experience at an asset manager, sell-side firm, consultant, or capital allocator
• Self starter with an entrepreneurial spirit to develop new products while operating with ambiguity
• Communication of complex credit topics, including both verbal and written delivery
• Poise under pressure, effective presentation skills, and presence and maturity to effectively represent the private investment platform.
• Project management skills with an ability to work both independently and within a team
• Sound judgement and resourcefulness to develop strategic and solutions- oriented results
• An understanding of asset management, with a preference for prior knowledge and/or experience in credit markets (private credit knowledge and experience working with separate account clients a plus)
• Intellectual curiosity to learn and operate across a wide range of investment topics, including contributing to forward-thinking content, such as white papers
• Flexible and professional working style to build and foster relationships skills with internal constituents across teams, as well as building relationships with external clients and consultants
• Advanced academic work (MBA, MS, etc.) and/or CFA are preferred
• Willingness to travel

Our approach to compensation considers all aspects of total compensation; all employees are eligible to receive salary, variable compensation, and benefits. The base salary range for this position is:

USD 65,000 - 150,000

This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered when making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets; role; skills and experience; certifications; and education. This range is an estimate, and further details on salary and total compensation aspects will be shared with candidates during the recruitment process.

Base salary is only one component of Wellington’s total compensation approach. Other rewards may include a discretionary Corporate Bonus and/ or Incentives, if eligible.
