Job Description

Guggenheim Partners Investment Management (GPIM) is looking for an outstanding candidate to join its Short Investment and Funding Solutions desk. As part of the trading team, the desk sources, structures and executes transactions to provide GPIM’s accounts with leverage (repo, prime brokerage, credit facility) and short-term investment solutions (incl. reverse repo). This position will require trade execution, position monitoring, risk management and reporting, as well as constant communication with portfolio managers, operations, and trading counterparties.

Essential Job Functions

  • Works in strong partnership with the rest of the Funding team 
  • Partner with portfolio managers to identify cash needs and ensure they are timely covered; and execute trade as authorized and requested by PMs
  • Ensure proper collateral optimization across the book
  • Develop, maintain, and improve workflow processes, desk procedures, risk reports, and surveillance
  • Understand pricing, risk, capacity, and trends in the money market instruments and funding markets (relative value/credit risk/liquidity)
  • Effectively execute short term “vanilla” repo trades in compliance with best execution and counterparty risk policies, and in accordance with client guidelines
  • Ensure trades are properly booked and managed downstream
  • Maintain a catalogue of deal assumptions, color and cash flow analytics
  • Support senior traders in the execution of long-term repo, committed facilities, and FHLB trades
  • Participate in training and staff development
  • Participate in team meetings, daily calls, and attend bi-weekly presentation
  • Pursuit of CFA is required if not already achieved

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3-4yrs of relevant experience
  • Experience in funding, derivatives, short duration, and cash management
  • Understanding of the different the structures: legal documentation, collateral access
  • Regulatory environment (Banks, 40 ACT, Insurance)
  • Market infrastructure related to repo;
  • Undergraduate Degree required with concentrations in Business, Finance, Economics, or related field. MBA and or CFA is a plus
  • Experience with industry standard tools such as Bloomberg
  • Strong credit, finance, economic, business and technical skills
  • Advanced VBA, Excel, SQL, and Python skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task across analytical, administrative, and quantitative research activities in a detail oriented and timely manner
  • Strong commitment to performance and accuracy of work products
  • Team oriented individual with ability to work well with diverse groups
  • Familiarity with the Blackrock Solutions Aladdin system

Salary Details

Annual base salary between $130,000 - $165,000. The base salary range represents the low and high end of the anticipated base salary range for this position. Actual base salaries may vary depending on factors such as location and experience. The range listed reflects base salary only, and the total compensation package may include other components such as incentive compensation.
