Junior Portfolio Manager, Enhanced Liquidity Funds – Global Credit – London

A bit about the job:

As a Junior Portfolio Manager, you will be expected to learn about and support the management of Liquidity and short duration funds, with the aim of taking key responsibility for managing portfolios. The primary focus of this role will be enhanced liquidity funds/mandates, with particular focus on Asset Backed Securities (ABS), primarily in GBP and Euro. As part of this you will need to create strong and lasting relationships with portfolio managers, credit analysts, the solutions team, external brokers and banks, the dealing desk, sales team, and our support functions at Aviva Investors. You will need to be very client focused. You will be expected to help drive improvements in our investment process. You will be required to contribute to investment ideas, participate in healthy debate, and be aware of risk and the importance of managing risk in an investment management company. The successful candidate will learn how to manage Enhanced Liquidity and short-end fixed income portfolios with particular focus on ABS and a requirement to meet required regulatory standards – there will be an intensive period of on-the-job training required and external qualifications where missing. Alongside this you will gain the opportunity to build on knowledge of the markets, macro- economic environment, ESG and the different types of investment risk with a view to making and contributing to investment decisions.

Skills and experience we’re looking for:

Investment industry experience, although not necessarily within the front office. However, ABS experience is preferred.
The ability to think of new ideas, innovate, be creative and challenge the status-quo.
A customer-focused perspective, understanding that all investment decisions should be made with the client in mind.
Great attention to detail and the ability to work within a pressured environment.
Outstanding team player, who will collaborate effectively across the team and the wider AI organisation.

In this role you’ll be ‘Certified’ under the Financial Conduct Authority / Prudential Regulation Authority’s Senior Managers and Certification Regime (SMCR). This means that we’ll need to complete some regulatory background checks on you before you take up your role and we’ll need to ask you some questions on an annual basis to make sure you remain ‘fit and proper’ and competent to carry out your role. We’ll provide training on what holding a SMCR role means when you join us and annually thereafter.
