BlackRock’s Multi-Asset Strategies & Solutions (MASS) business is the investment group at the heart of BlackRock's portfolio construction, asset allocation, and active management ecosystem. MASS draws on the full toolkit of index, factor, and alpha-seeking investment capabilities to deliver precise investment outcomes and innovative alpha insights. Our team of 300+ multi- asset investment professionals constructs active asset allocation strategies and whole portfolio solutions across a wide spectrum of commingled funds, separate accounts, model portfolios, and outsourcing solutions in the wealth and institutional channels. Currently, MASS manages over $1 trillion in assets and has a strong presence in San Francisco, New York, London and throughout Asia Pacific.

Team Overview:

The Core PM team is responsible for a wide array of portfolio management responsibilities across MASS. The team is organized globally with strong regional alignment to reflect different investing centers of expertise. The team’s primary responsibility involves partnering with various teams in designing, managing, and analyzing global, multi-asset portfolios to deliver performance to institutional and individual retail investors. The team works with CIOs and researchers on portfolio construction and new business design, contributes to investment research, handles all aspects of implementation, and drives enhancements across the PM operating platform.

Position Overview and Responsibilities:

As a Portfolio Manager in MASS, you will be working with the Global Core PM team to manage portfolios across a range of clients and product types. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Manage portfolios comprised of physical and synthetic fixed income, equity, FX, funds, private markets and commodity exposures

  • Perform tasks including implementing multiple investment strategies, handling client flows, rebalancing, and risk/ performance decomposition

  • Ensure all mandates conform to performance expectations, investment guidelines, risk parameters, and regulatory requirements

  • Apply technology and analytical tools to improve processes and build scale

  • Work with analytics, risk, data, and other platform teams to drive operational improvements and contribute to overall systems/investment and trading process design

  • Participate in research related to portfolio construction, asset allocation, security selection, and other investment topics

Qualifications:

  • Degree in a Finance or related field such as Economics or Business Management, or equivalent demonstrated professional experience

  • Prior years of experience in portfolio management or related role desired (e.g. risk management, analytics, trading), with accompanying knowledge in relevant subject areas such as markets, instruments, portfolio construction, exposure and risk measures, or attribution

  • Experience in managing and rebalancing portfolios and hedging preferred

  • Understanding of quantitative investment research and optimization techniques preferred

  • Knowledge or experience across markets and instruments such as ETFs and other fund vehicles, derivatives, FX, rates, equities or credit markets (options, IRS, CDS, etc. a plus)

  • Meticulous attention to detail with an ability to remain focused across a wide range of portfolio types and activities

  • Flexible, responsive, and self-starting personality. Demonstrated experience working both independently and as part of a team in a highly collaborative, global environment

  • Strong process awareness and sense of accountability and ownership in recognizing and addressing risks in the business

  • Technical skills such as Python and Tableau, and experience working with Aladdin would be valuable.

For New York City only: The salary range for this position is $118,750 - $140,000. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including heath care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.

Our hybrid work model

BlackRock’s hybrid work model is designed to enable a culture of collaboration and apprenticeship that enriches the experience of our employees, while supporting flexibility for all. Employees are currently required to work at least 3 days in the office each week, with the flexibility to work from home up to 2 days a week; some business groups may require more time in the office due to their roles and responsibilities. Beginning in September, all employees will shift to at least 4 days in the office per week, with the flexibility to work from home 1 day a week.
