Labs Fellow Intern – San Francisco

Position Overview
We are seeking a talented member of the class of 2027 to join Farallon Labs
this summer as an intern at the firm’s headquarters in San Francisco.
Farallon Labs is the firm’s quantitative research engine, developing in-house
data science capabilities and cutting-edge AI tools to bolster Farallon’s
traditional strength in deep fundamental research. You will be part of a lean,
high performing team that drives the firm’s strategic data science and AI
initiatives across all investment strategy areas on behalf of the partnership.
You will work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment to develop
proprietary methods and frameworks using AI for generating actionable
differentiated insights to augment investment research, portfolio management,
and operations. You will conduct in-depth research on the latest AI techniques
to drive innovations in AI-enabled investment research.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with senior data scientists to evaluate and curate large-scale data sets and investigate new modeling methodologies to help drive innovative data use cases for investment research across asset classes and strategies
- Research and evaluate emerging trends, best practices, tools, and techniques in AI
- Develop, deploy, and monitor novel applications for investment research across asset classes and strategies
- Collaborate cross-functionally with key stakeholders to understand investment research and business needs.
- Effectively communicate on available AI tools including limitations, best practices, and use cases.
- Support day-to-day research operations of the team and take part in continuous improvements to research **** quality by applying creative problem-solving to a wide variety of research questions
Qualifications
- Member of the class of 2027 pursuing a B.S. or B.A. degree in computer science, economics, statistics, or other quantitative discipline (3.5 minimum cumulative GPA or equivalent) from a top accredited university or college
- Exceptional analytical and quantitative skills, and proficiency in Python and other programming languages
- Intellectually curious, with a strong work ethic and ability to think outside the box
- Able to thrive in a dynamic and entrepreneurial environment and have the utmost level of personal integrity
- Demonstrated ability to communicate complex analyses clearly and coherently to various audiences
- Experience in AI Research (especially LLMs) and developing AI-enabled technologies

_Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience and expertise.
The monthly salary for this San Francisco-based position is expected to be
$5,858.67. _
