The Role

As part of continued growth, a new opportunity has arisen for a Lead Software Engineer. As a member of the Mosaic Technology team, this individual will be responsible for delivering solutions for the Portfolio Management team especially in the Fixed Income space. This is an ideal opportunity for an IT professional to apply business and technical skills to enable investment processes to become more effective.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of high-quality business solutions by participating in architecture, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and support.
  • Work with business teams, project managers, and systems analysts to review and qualify business requirements, functional specifications, use cases, and test plans.
  • Design, prototype, and code new software components and applications based on functional specifications across the full stack—services, web and mobile clients, infrastructure, and back end.
  • Coordinate with analyst teams and vendors to execute test plans and provide support during user acceptance testing.
  • Modify and enhance existing systems to incorporate new functionality and optimize performance.
  • Author technical design and support documentation.

Qualifications

  • Five years of relevant design and development experience within the financial industry preferred.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills gained through experience in a relevant financial domain (e.g., business and technical understanding of fixed income and/or derivatives securities, foreign exchange, money markets).
  • Experience with modern software development and testing methodologies such as Artifactory, Git, and Jenkins.
  • Experience developing complex applications using Python, JavaScript/React/Node.js, or related technologies.
  • Familiarity with web applications and services using REST, HTML5, CSS, HTTP, Web Services, XML, JSON, and modern UI frameworks such as React.
  • Intermediate-level expertise with SQL and Excel VBA preferred.
  • Experience developing applications with cloud technologies such as AWS desired.
  • Degree in Sciences, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or a directly related field, with strong mathematical acumen.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, business-critical environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality solutions.
  • 7–10 years of coding experience.
  • Experience leading technical delivery of projects and managing software developers (onshore and offshore).
  • Ability to actively participate in technical design and code reviews.
  • Experience with Service-Oriented Architecture and Agile software development.

At Wellington Management, our approach to compensation is designed to help us attract, inspire and retain the best talent in our industry. We strive to pay employees fairly and competitively across all levels and roles. Our approach to compensation considers all aspects of total compensation; all employees are eligible to receive salary, variable compensation, and benefits. The base salary range for this position is:

USD 90,000 - 180,000

This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered when making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets; role; skills and experience; certifications; and education. This range is an estimate, and further details on salary and total compensation aspects will be shared with candidates during the recruitment process.

Base salary is only one component of Wellington’s total compensation approach. Other rewards may include a discretionary Corporate Bonus and/ or Incentives, if eligible.
