Linux Systems Engineer

In this role, you will act as an owner and primary point of contact for our Linux infrastructure, as well as any related distributed systems. This includes supporting various teams and individuals who use these platforms on a day-to-day basis, directly and indirectly.

What you will do

• Administer, upgrade, troubleshoot, and improve various Linux platforms (physical machines, virtual machines, and VDI workstations)
• Monitor Flow’s global infrastructure, managing and optimizing the framework used to do so
• Participate in on-call rotations and be available in escalation response and analysis for Linux-related incidents and requests
• Automate manual tasks through infrastructure-as-code and scripting languages
• Exhibit effective time-management skills and participate in global collaboration, both within your team and in an interdisciplinary setting

What you need to succeed

• 3 to 5 years of comprehensive Linux expertise with troubleshooting, optimization in virtual and bare-metal configurations, Debian specific knowledge a plus
• Big Data & Streaming familiarity with platforms like Kafka
• Extensive Kubernetes experience, preferable in an on-prem environment
• Basic understanding of data storage technologies
• Proficient in autonomously navigating complex team-based technical environments and utilizing tools like Jira for tracking and organization
• Intermediate understanding of networking with emphasis on IPAM, DNS, and DHCP. Knowledge of concepts such as Multicast, BGP, and FPGA architecture a plus
• 2 to 3 years of automation experience (Ansible, Puppet, Python, and Bash)
• Scheduling solutions expertise, CI/CD implementations, and designing / administering systems (Prometheus and Grafana)
• Proficient in navigating complex team-based technical environments
• Effective communication and collaboration within diverse technical teams
• Problem-solving orientation with a focus on understanding root causes of incidents

Where candidates will fall within the range depends on a few different factors including but not limited to level of experience, location, and specific skill set. We also consider ourselves one global team, and to demonstrate that, all employees are eligible to share in the company’s success through an annual discretionary variable remuneration allocated based on company, group and individual performance and contribution.

Per NYC salary transparency law, the total compensation for this role includes a base of $120,000 to $160,000 plus annual discretionary variable remuneration.
