A unique internship for curious minds

Mako’s Summer Internship is a structured virtual programme specially designed to develop knowledge and experience of the industry and options markets. As Trading becomes more automated and data-driven so does the overlap between our software engineering and trading teams.

The holistic programme runs for a 6-week period and covers the markets in which Mako operates as well as fundamental option theories, risk processes and the technology we use across the business

The Internship will offer modules such as Options Pricing, Quant Research, Equity Research and Software Development, creating a holistic syllabus to provide a fantastic insight into trading, technology and Mako itself over the course of the Internship. Individual modules will contain a lecture and Q&A with a specialist member of the Mako team and directed learning throughout the week, leading to an assignment to complete which will be assessed and feedback given. We expect there to be around 2 hours of lectures and contact time each week, with 3-5 hours of directed self-study and an assignment to complete. The internship will not be paid, however prizes will be awarded to the best submissions each week at the end of the course.

Throughout the internship, we will also host events such as Q&A’s and mock trading sessions for participants in addition to hosted networking events in our office. Our Summer Internship offers an exceptional opportunity to work with highly experienced traders to get hands on knowledge and to understand the options and wider financial industry in greater depth.

What we need from you

A very high demonstrable level of mathematical ability
Currently studying a STEM based subject
Programming ability - e.g. familiarity with VBA /Python or Go/Java/C++
A positive attitude and passion for learning
Problem solving ability
