Garda is looking to hire an Intern to join the Commodities Trading Team in New York for Summer 2024. The candidate will be supporting portfolio managers, helping implement solutions for our trading and risk systems. In the course of the internship, you will be exposed to the analytics used in trading, working closely with a mentor who will provide guidance and feedback.

Position Responsibilities:

Shadow the commodities trading desk in order to learn the basics of various markets such as metals, energies, and agriculture
Assist in the development of and/or enhance the existing set of data-driven strategies
Support the team’s research process, including data collection and analysis, prototyping, back testing, and performance monitoring
Work on a summer-long research project culminating in a presentation in front of Garda’s global trading staff

Desired Skills & Qualifications

Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in statistics, financial engineering, applied math, finance, computer science, or similar quantitative or technical discipline
Quantitative & programming skills (Python & SQL)
Knowledge and interest in commodities markets
Strong communication skills
Ability to work independently
Intellectual curiosity and motivation to innovate and improve

Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, such as job-related skills, experience, and relevant education.
