Quant Developer – Python (Commodities)

We are looking for a Junior Front-Office Python Developer (2-6 years’ experience) with a Data Engineering slant and an interest in cloud technology to work closely with the Commodities desk in London by integrating large alternative datasets (in the order of TBs) and designing innovative cloud- based solutions to facilitate research and trading to effectively utilize them.

Your future role within QRT:

  • Develop ETL pipelines to integrate and test very large alternative datasets for the Commodities desk in collaboration with quant researchers and data engineering teams.
  • Architect, deploy and manage cloud-based systems for storing and exploring very large alternative datasets in collaboration with the AWS infrastructure team.
  • Monitor, support, debug and extend existing Commodities trading and research infrastructure together with Researchers and Support Engineers.

Your present skill set:

  • Strong understanding and professional experience with Python 3 is a must, as well as proficiency in scientific packages such as Pandas, Numpy, Xarray etc.
  • Cloud platforms (AWS) experience is highly desirable, e.g. S3, Glue, Athena, Lambda, EMR.
  • Experience with GIS Python packages is a plus, e.g. Geopandas, Rasterio etc.
  • Experience with distributed/parallel computing is highly desireable, e.g. PySpark, Dask etc.
  • Experience with meteorological datasets and being able to interpret them is a plus.
  • Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL databases is desirable.
  • Knowledge of testing as part of continuous delivery and integration pipelines.
  • Ability to work in a high-performance, high-velocity environment.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
  • Capacity to work with autonomy within a global team (Researchers and Data Engineers).
