Old Mission Capital, a global quantitative proprietary trading firm is currently hiring an experienced quantitative trader/developer to join our Chicago office.

This Quantitative Trader/Developer will have experience as a trader or developer in the space of market-making, stat arb or similar. The job responsibilities will include conception, implementation, and piloting of trader tools, quantitative research projects, and contributions to options market making algorithm design. This Quantitative Trader/Developer will work closely with traders and software engineers to build new and enhance existing quantitative models, signals, tools, and algos at a desk-wide level. This role will also consist of detailed research and post-trade analysis of live trading strategies as well as investigating new strategies and/or business opportunities. This position allows you to use your market making experience with our technology and make an immediate contribution to our firm.

Responsibilities: 

  • Contribute to the development and design of our next generation options algorithm stack.
  • Use large quantities of data to develop and back-test signals to be used by our trading system.
  • Collaborate with other members of the trading desk to develop and rapidly iterate on tools and dashboards used to enhance live trading.
  • Develop options specific research infrastructure and libraries.
  • Explore trading ideas by analyzing market data and market microstructure for patterns.
  • Participate in the idea generation process with respect to options research.

Required Skills: 

  • A degree in a quantitative field such as computer science, engineering, mathematics, statistics, or one of the hard sciences.
  • 2+ years of experience on a trading team as a developer or trader.
  • Strong creative, quantitative, and analytical skills.
  • Experience working with and joining multiple large datasets.
  • Programming skills in C++ is a must and experience with Python is highly desired.
  • Track record of successful design and execution of novel, complex, open-ended projects.
  • Options experience preferred but not mandatory, candidate must be interested in the options space.
  • The ability to work and solve problems as part of a team, often in a high-pressure environment.
  • Successful candidates will have a passion for the financial markets and are strategic thinkers. Must be organized and detail-oriented and the ability to manage multiple work streams.
  • Proven trustworthiness and performance under the highest ethical standards.
