Block is one company built from many blocks, all united by the same purpose of economic empowerment. The blocks that form our foundational teams — People, Finance, Counsel, Hardware, Information Security, Platform Infrastructure Engineering, and more — provide support and guidance at the corporate level. They work across business groups and around the globe, spanning time zones and disciplines to develop inclusive People policies, forecast finances, give legal counsel, safeguard systems, nurture new initiatives, and more. Every challenge creates possibilities, and we need different perspectives to see them all. Bring yours to Block.
The Cash App Quantitative Finance Team is an intellectually diverse team of machine learning modelers, data scientists, former strategy consultants and data engineers focused on applying leading AI, graph analytics and machine learning algorithms to solve business problems for executives within Cash App and the broader Block organization.
Within the Quantitative Finance team, the Forecast Analytics Team is responsible for building and implementing a quantitative model-driven forecast using the Cash App inflows framework (https://youtu.be/MOzbShUy1j0?t=996). The outputs of these models are used for long-range planning, annual planning and marketing exercises. This group has significant exposure to all facets of Cash F&S, Cash Executive Management and marketing partners.
This position will challenge you across financial strategy, data analytics and AI/ML. The challenges in this role entail customer classification problems (churn, winback, product attach), money movements (inflows, outflows and switch flows) as well as the opportunity to learn about the exciting area of Network Science and how Cash Customers interact with each through P2P.
You will lead cross-functional teams across framework development, socialization, model development and ad-hoc analytics. Specifically, you will manage work streams, present to management, conduct data analysis, develop requirements and test the output of quantitative models.
