Job Description

As a Quantitative Research Intern at SIG, you will work on projects that model the work of our full-time employees. You will also go through a comprehensive education program and interact with mentors who are at the top of their field, allowing you to build foundational knowledge in quantitative finance.

  • Applications of probability, statistics, and other mathematical tools to real-world problems in the financial markets
  • Warm, friendly, and supportive colleagues
  • A place where they feel comfortable asking many, many questions
  • An open environment that allows them to collaborate with multiple teams
  • A culture that values transparency and integrity
  • A place where they can envision long-term growth

SIG combines all of the above to provide the best quant internship program in the industry. Join us to see why so many previous quant interns decide to return for a full-time career.

What we're looking for

  • Students in their 4th or 5th year of their PhD program studying in a quantitative field such as Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Operations Research, or Economics
  • Exceptional mathematical problem-solving skills
  • Solid communication skills, both in the ability to understand others and to make yourself clearly understood
  • Strong, practical computing skills; a specific language proficiency is less important than your ability to get computers to accomplish tasks efficiently and reliably
  • Experience working on in-depth research projects

By applying to this role, you will be automatically considered for the Quantitative Systematic Trading Internship program. There is no need to apply to both positions to be considered for both.

Quantitative Research Interns at SIG will receive a total of $77,000 during the ten-week program. This compensation is comprised of a $5,200 weekly base salary plus a signing bonus. Interns will also receive company-paid housing, breakfast and lunch, and other perks.

SIG does not accept unsolicited resumes from recruiters or search firms. Any resume or referral submitted in the absence of a signed agreement will become the property of SIG and no fee will be paid.
