Job Description

Belvedere Trading is a leading proprietary trading firm proudly headquartered in downtown Chicago. Our traders work hard to provide liquidity to the market through their market-making activities and are the masters of a diverse set of commodities, interest rates, exchange-traded funds (ETF), and equity index options. From the beginning, we began iteratively investing in our proprietary technology and committing to building our systems from the ground up. Our trading models and software systems are continually re-engineered, optimized, and maintained to stay on top of the industry.

Our quantitative team, working with both tech and trading, are charged with developing scalable algorithms and translating trading models into our extensible systems. We are looking for highly skilled and experienced individuals to join this research initiative building models that upscale the future of our technology platform.

The ideal candidate has direct experience in the quantitative research process and understands the workflow from idea generation to implementation. This position is accountable for making a significant impact on the direction and productivity of a newly formed team within the firm.

What you'll do

  • Innovate on quant concepts and ideas, including model development

  • Machine learning and conduct data analysis

  • Replay and improve existing trading strategies using data and algorithms to drive the trading decisions

  • Develop a multi-asset allocation model to deploy capital

  • Apply machine learning techniques to understand market movements

  • Work with undergraduate and graduate programs on special projects

  • Take on projects to support market-making efforts

  • Research and generate ideas for modeling methods to capture market patterns

  • Conduct financial data analysis on large datasets to generate profitable trading alphas

  • Contribute to in-house data analysis packages and research framework development

  • Acquisition of new data sets and cleaning/maintenance of new and existing data sets

What you'll need

  • PHD or Master’s level degree required

  • 1-5 year(s) applicable professional experience in quantitative fields such as analyzing large statistical data sets, or machine learning, AI, or other related quantitative fields

  • Coding skills in Python

  • Demonstrated experience analyzing large statistical data set

  • Passionate about technology/software testing

  • Strong problem-solving skills

  • Works effectively and collaboratively in a team environment

  • Self-starter who can get things done with minimal direction

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

Compensation

The base compensation range for the Quantitative Researcher opportunity is $150-250k annually based on experience. This position is also bonus eligible.

Hybrid Work Structure

This position will be based in New York or Chicago with the option to work in a hybrid structure with a minimum of two days in the office.
