Overview

We are looking for a RDBMS/Python developer to join the compliance technology team, which designs and develops surveillance, monitoring and reporting tools for the oversight of SIG’s trading activities across all of our products, including options, equities, futures, fixed income, and many others. The compliance technology team uses a combination of technologies: primarily the team uses Oracle, Hadoop, Spark, Spark SQL, Python and Java. Additionally, the team uses SQL Server, MySQL, and Informatica. You’ll have the advantage of working in a non-siloed, collaborative meritocracy where you’ll have opportunity to solve problems that directly impact our business.

What You’ll Do

Design and build new tools as well as enhancements to existing applications and reports for the compliance business community
Develop solutions using Oracle as well as Hadoop, Spark SQL, Python
Work on projects that require deep knowledge of database procedural languages and the ability to deliver custom complex logic applied over large volumes of data (several terabytes) in a performant manner

What we're looking for

Bachelor’s degree in Technology/Computer Science or a related technical discipline required
5+ years of hands-on experience with database development in PL/SQL, Transact-SQL or equivalent
Experience with Oracle is preferred but suitable experience with SQL Server or MySQL can be substituted
Experience working with large data volumes and large complex database environments required
At least 2 years of experience in at least one of the following:
Scripting with Shell, Python or similar language strongly preferred
Big data experience with Spark and Spark SQL
Experience with Informatica is a plus
If a candidate does not have big data experience, we would consider a candidate with genuine interest in learning
A collaborative, team-oriented approach and an analytical mindset
Strong communication skills across multiple business areas including technology, support and business teams and external contacts
Financial services or market knowledge is a plus
