Research defines the culture of AB Equities and is the cornerstone of our collaborative investment process. We serve clients globally, with research coverage across developed, emerging and frontier markets and our teams are based in offices including New York, London, Tokyo, Shanghai, Taipei, Sydney and Hong Kong.
This role is a research analyst supporting our International Technology Fund and Global Disruptors, both are growth portfolios with thematic investment styles and focused on identifying and investing in the next generation disruptive innovation leaders across industries globally. We seek to invest in the most disruptive part of the growth curve, which often focusing on earlier stage and higher growth companies. We look for companies with large total addressable market, high quality and sustainable growth, strong competitive moats, outstanding management teams with innovation mindset, and path toward long-term profitability. We have a diversified portfolio, an aggressive investment approach overlaid with a rigorous investment approach.
What You 'll Do
Conduct thematic research and identify long-term high potential investable themes; follow and update universe of stocks that best represent such themes.
Conduct fundamental research aimed at understanding the economic fundamentals of businesses
Create long-term focused financial projections and valuation scenarios based on different fundamental outcomes
Willing to take accountability for investment recommendations based on the above, and in the best interests of AB’s clients
Willing to work collaboratively with other team members and PMs to further our research.
Assist with production of marketing and client communication materials, as well as other thematic thought piece
Uphold AB’s fiduciary obligations, adhere to the Code of Conduct and uphold AB’s reputation as a representative with clients and in the broader industry.
Promote an appropriate diversity and inclusion culture in the firm.
Collaborate with AB’s Responsible Investing team to consider and evaluate, the environmental, social, and governance impact of the companies we invest in.
What We 're Looking For
A strong interest in investing, with a particular interest in exploring thematic investing and disruptive innovation
Strong intellectual curiosity and flexibility a must. Ability to research and understand mega trends, themes and identify successful industries and business models benefiting from such trends.
Demonstrate ability to conduct differentiated fundamental research based on industry structures, competitive advantages, company strategies and key success factors for a broad range of businesses across industries.
The ability and willingness to always ask questions and challenge what is considered “status quo” and comfortable balancing intellectual rigor with the ability to make recommendations with somewhat imperfect information in a dynamic environment.
Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills.
A comfort and enjoyment of engaging company management and conducting meetings.
Strong quantitative skills and experience working on complex projects with Excel. Accounting and Finance knowledge must include the ability to create an integrated income statement, cash flow and balance sheet model, along with a corresponding upside downside valuation.
The ability to work as a member of a team in a dynamic, collaborative, informal and fast-changing environment. We encourage vigorous and open debate among members of our team in an atmosphere of mutual respect.
3-5 years of experience in fundamental equity research is required; prior buyside experience preferred
A record of outstanding academic and professional success.

In accordance with Section 8-107(32) as set forth in the New York City Human Rights Law, the minimum and maximum base annual salary for this role is as follows:
Base Salary Range: $110,000 to $150,000
Actual base salaries may vary based on factors including but not limited to education, training, experience, past performance, and other job-related factors. Base salary is just one component of total compensation at AB, which may include, depending on eligibility, commissions, year-end incentive compensation, short- and long-term incentives and Department-specific awards. In addition AB provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays, sick and vacation time off.
