** Job Description** :

The Summer Analyst program provides the opportunity to gain exposure to a number of disciplines within Sales, Trading & Research. Assignments will be with one of our Sales, Trading & Research groups listed below, with the opportunity to interact with other groups and disciplines throughout the investment bank. Within each group, Summer Analysts play a meaningful role in supporting internal and external clients.

Equity Research

Equity Research is recommended for individuals with an interest in capital markets. Summer Analysts will be embedded on a team(s) that covers a specific sector, under the watch of a senior research analyst (VP, Director or MD). Each team covers 10-25 stocks and is responsible for publishing research reports and providing “bespoke” content that is utilized by institutional investors during their investment process. Additionally, published material is widely disseminated among the corporate community and industry contacts. The Summer Analyst will support their assigned team during the production and writing of research reports, which include investment recommendations (BUY, SELL or HOLD); this may include: data analysis, building/maintaining financial models, and participation in conference calls with company management teams or institutional clients.

Fixed Income Research

Truist Securities recruits Fixed Income Research Summer Analysts for several different areas. Analysts will join the Fixed Income Research/Sales & Trading Team in Memphis and gain exposure to some or all of the following five groups:

  • Portfolio Strategies
  • Portfolio Accounting
  • Asset Liability Management
  • Sales & Trading Analyst
  • Secondary Loan Trading Analyst

Analysts in Fixed Income Research play a meaningful role in supporting senior investment banking professionals. Analysts generate fixed income investment portfolio presentations for depository, municipality and money manager customers. Analysts will also gain exposure to regulatory and accounting issues related to depositories and build a more robust understanding of financial institutions’ balance sheets, focusing on an asset-liability management perspective. Finally, they work with a team of Senior Analysts to develop relevant fixed income investment strategies and publish written research.

Institutional Credit Sales, Trading & Research

This is an opportunity for a skilled, driven, and team oriented candidate to work in a Research, Sales, or Trading role, collaborating with Truist fixed income professionals in a dynamic environment with ample avenues for skillset development and exposure to a variety of function specific applications across the platform.

Depending on placement, the candidate will focus primarily on Research, Sales, or Trading responsibilities within the broader group. Examples of typical scenarios include trade generation and execution, evaluation of mergers and acquisitions, capital raising transactions, and investment relative value. The candidate will need to be highly proficient in modeling and possess superior written and verbal skills in order to create effective presentations and communicate efficiently with members of the group.

Quantitative Research

This is an opportunity for technically proficient candidates to work in Sales, Trading, and Research. The Quantitative Research team works with multiple businesses to build new trading products, measure and manage risk, and to procure, investigate, and use data to improve the effectiveness of Sales, Trading, and Research businesses. Successful candidates will have completed coursework in calculus and linear algebra, have experience in programming in at least one language and have demonstrated an interest in applying their skills in finance.
