Job Description: Shopify is the world's first 'retail operating system'. It has evolved over 17 years of making commerce better for everyone. Leveraging our data has always been essential to this mission. Our Financial Services are powered by algorithms that benefit merchants, not just through their data, but through the entire history of commerce on Shopify. The Banking and Accounting team builds products to extend the financial capabilities for small and medium-sized businesses. It is a cross-functional team with data scientists, engineering, design, and product sitting collectively at the table. As a Senior Data Scientist, you’ll help build future financial products used by millions of Shopify merchants, collaborating with technical and non-technical stakeholders across the company. You’ll mentor other data scientists and operate as a technical guide for the team. If you enjoy working in financial services and building greenfield products, this role is for you.

Qualifications: You will need to have:* Extensive experience using Python including a strong grasp of object oriented programming (OOP) fundamentals

Deep understanding of advanced SQL techniques
Proven expertise in designing and running experiments, and a track record of more advanced testing methods beyond A/B Testing
Experience building data pipelines and driving ETL design decisions
Experience building machine learning models (e.g. propensity models, recommendation system, risk, credit and trust models)
Proven track record creating data product strategies, shipping data products, iterating after launch, and trying again
Strong ability to prioritize and communicate to technical and non-technical audiences alike Experience with leading projects and mentoring other data scientists

It would be great if you have:* Experience working with commercial organizations (e.g. Sales, Marketing, Account Management, Risk Management, Support)

Experience working at a fintech company or financial services company
Experience setting up experiments in commercial organizations
Previous experience working at a large technology company
