Job Description

What you’ll be doing

As a Senior Quantitative Analyst, Model Performance and Analytics for Market Risk Rule, you will perform ongoing monitoring and assessment of CMRM’s US capital models via in depth analysis to ensure accuracy and reasonableness of model outcomes and provide senior management with confidence that the models continue to perform at the highest standards. You will streamline the analysis and reporting processes through automation and creation of tools for more efficient and proactive risk management. You will work closely with finance and middle office functions in the assessment of clean PL for models backtesting. You will work closely with our colleagues in Quantitative Risk and our partners in Trading Floor Market Risk and Technology to identify, assess, measure and monitor Risks Not In VaR (RNIV).

How you’ll succeed

  • Problem solving and communication – Ensure effective identification of issues impacting CMRM models performance, timely communication and escalation of identified issues to relevant stakeholder groups and senior management, and adequate prioritization for resolving identified issues.

  • Demonstrate domain knowledge – Demonstrate in-depth understanding of valuation & risk models and continue to grow your knowledge of trading and hedging strategies, Capital Markets products, and regulatory changes pertaining to Market Risk capital and Initial Margin requirements. Remain abreast of market environment, news and events, and be proactive is assessing their potential impact on model performance. Develop expertise in CMRM and Capital Markets systems, processes and underlying models. Create and enhance documentation pertaining to model governance and controls.

  • Relationship building – A key component of success in this role is to develop and maintain excellent relationships with various groups across CMRM, Capital Markets, Technology and Finance as most of the issues identified through model performance monitoring require collaborative effort among multiple teams to resolve. It is vital to be able to establish and maintain clear and concise lines of communication and foster a collaborative culture while keeping in mind that this role is part of CMRM and is thus a 2nd line of defense with all the accountabilities that comes with it including providing effective challenge, monitoring and oversight.

Who you are

  • You can demonstrate experience. 2+ years of experience in market risk, capital markets, statistical methods (e.g. KS test, Spearman, Expected Shortfall/Conditional VaR, historical simulations). Experience with risk factor decompositions and backtesting.

  • You can demonstrate knowledge. In Financial Risk Management. You have strong knowledge of financial markets and products as well as the foundations of risk measurement and management.

  • You have a degree. In a quantitative discipline such as Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Quantitative Finance, and/or Computer Science, etc. Graduate degree in a relevant field is an asset.

  • You 're digitally savvy. You seek out innovative solutions and embrace evolving technologies. You can easily adapt to new tools, systems and trends. You have solid technical and programming skills (e.g. Python, C#, C++, VBA, SQL, and/or R, etc.).
