Who You 'll Work With

Research defines the culture of AB Equities and is the cornerstone of our collaborative investment decision-making process. Our team engages in creative and long-term strategic analysis that is the basis for all investment decisions. We seek to identify and own good businesses at attractive valuations and apply a long-term approach as owners of businesses to our decision making. We serve clients globally, with research coverage across developed, emerging and frontier markets and our teams are based in offices including New York, London, Tokyo, Shanghai, Taipei, Sydney and Hong Kong.

This role is for a research analyst focused on the consumer sector supporting the US Growth Equities team which includes the US Large Cap Growth portfolio, Relative Value portfolio, and related strategies.

What You 'll Do

  • Conduct fundamental research on public companies in the consumer sector aimed at understanding the economic truth of businesses.
  • Create long-term financial forecasts which lead to scenario based discounted cash flow valuation targets. Scenario targets help us understand investment opportunities on a risk adjusted basis. We do not believe in single point price target forecasting.
  • Willing to take accountability for investment recommendations based on the above, and in the best interests of AB’s clients.
  • Willing to work collaboratively with other analysts and PMs on the team to further the research agenda and positively contribute to successful client outcomes.
  • Collaborate with the team’s embedded ESG analyst and AB’s Responsible Investing team to actively consider and evaluate, the environmental, social, and governance impact of the companies we invest in.
  • Support the commercial needs of the business by collaborating with marketing on the production of client communication materials.
  • Uphold AB’s fiduciary obligations, adhere to the Code of Conduct and uphold AB’s reputation as a representative with clients and in the broader industry.
  • Promote an appropriate diversity and inclusion culture in the firm.

What We 're Looking For

  • At least 5 years’ experience researching companies in the consumer sector.
  • Be intellectually inquisitive and motivated to achieve, with a record of outstanding academic and professional success.
  • Have a personality that is attracted to problem solving, including possessing a high degree of comfort modelling in MS Excel and experience in interpreting financial statements.
  • Be equally comfortable working in a team environment and independently.
  • Have strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Be able to work with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrate a passion for investing.

In accordance with Section 8-107(32) as set forth in the New York City Human Rights Law, the minimum and maximum base annual salary for this role is as follows:

Base Salary Range: $150,000-$200,000

Actual base salaries may vary based on factors including but not limited to education, training, experience, past performance, and other job-related factors. Base salary is just one component of total compensation at AB, which may include, depending on eligibility, commissions, year-end incentive compensation, short- and long-term incentives and Department-specific awards. In addition, AB provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays, sick and vacation time off.
