Job Description

At NVIDIA, we’re tapping into the unlimited potential of AI to define the next era of computing. An era in which our GPU acts as the brains of computers, robots, and self-driving cars that can understand the world. Doing what’s never been done before takes vision, innovation, and the world’s best talent. As an NVIDIAN, you’ll be immersed in a diverse, supportive environment where everyone is inspired to do their best work.

We are looking for a software engineering intern with C++ and parallel programming experience to join NVIDIA's cuOpt team! cuOpt is Nvidia’s operations research optimization engine. Massively parallel heuristics and evolutionary algorithms find the world’s best solution to the largest problems in seconds. Are you interested in orchestrating fleets of autonomous robots, planning the last mile delivery of millions of pizza daily, or simulating the most complex manufacturing operations in the multiverse?

What you will be doing:

  • Prototype and develop parallel algorithms for optimization problems including but not limited to routing, scheduling, and packing.

  • Performance tuning, optimization, and benchmarking of large-scale parallel numerical software on various GPU architectures.

  • Collaborate with team members and understand software use cases and requirements.

What we need to see:

  • Pursuing a MS or PhD degree in Computer Science, Applied Math, Engineering, or related field.

  • Excellent parallel C++ programming and software design skills.

  • Strong algorithms and numerical methods fundamentals.

  • Ability to work independently and manage your own development effort.

  • Strong collaboration, communication, and documentation habits.

Ways to stand out from the crowd:

  • Experience developing operations research and optimization, numerical methods, or machine learning.

  • Experience working in an open-source and agile software development environment.

  • Understanding of hardware and system architecture, CPU/GPU/Memory/Storage, everything related to performance optimization

  • A scripting language, preferably Python.

As a member of the cuOpt team, you will help develop new algorithms, heuristics, and techniques for solving bigger problems faster. Join our diverse team to support NVIDIA's vision and growth by building solvers for addressing the toughest problems in vehicle routing, supply chain flows, and generic constraint problems!

The hourly rate for our interns is $19 - $93. Our internship hourly rates are a standard pay determined based on the position and your location, year in school, degree, and experience.

You will also be eligible for Intern [benefits](https://www.nvidia.com/en- us/benefits/interns/).

NVIDIA is committed to fostering a diverse work environment and proud to be an equal opportunity employer. As we highly value diversity in our current and future employees, we do not discriminate (including in our hiring and promotion practices) on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, gender expression, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, disability status or any other characteristic protected by law.
