An exciting opportunity to work on the Systematic Trading Desk within Shell Trading. The successful applicant will be focusing on developing a funnel of algorithmic trading strategies, expose these to rigorous back testing and deploy them into live trading environment taking advantage of the existing infrastructure. It will be expected that you can propose strategies backed by experience, including experience as a front-line trader, possibly from different asset classes (e.g. financial markets, other commodities, as opposed to Energy).
What’s the role?
The Systematic Trading desk itself, part of Shell Energy Europe & Africa’s (SE-EA) Europe, seeks to leverage improvements in technology, programming frameworks and quantitative analysis to develop profitable algorithmic trading strategies across a variety of tenors and commodities within the wider Global Shell trading Remit.
Key Accountabilities:
Develop, implement, and manage short/medium term quantitative trading strategies.
P&L accountability for the proprietary strategies.
Demonstrating a clear understanding of the risks being taken
Executing trades within mandated authorities.
Observe and strictly comply with all regulatory guidelines.
Coach & educate colleagues, including those on other teams.
What we need from you
Essential Skills & Requirements:
This posting target experienced trading professionals. You are likely to be a strong contender if you have hands on experience in risk taking
Ability to formulate systematic ideas and prove alpha generation via structured and established back testing methods
Experienced programmer, ideally in Python and possibly C#
Desirable Skills & Requirements:
Market knowledge in European energy or Crude or the wider commodity markets.
Previous experience using C#, JavaScript, Blazor for Front End Development is desirable.
Experience in cross commodity trading is desirable.
Experience in commodities market outside Europe and Oil markets is desirable.
Previous experience in working with in an established systematic team is desirable.

Uses best practice development techniques but open to change of approach according to conflicting timelines/risks involved
