About Houston

ExxonMobil's state-of-the-art campus north of Houston serves as home to its Upstream, Product Solutions and Low Carbon Solutions businesses and their associated service groups. The facility opened in 2014 and accommodates more than 10,000 employees and visitors.

What role would you play in our team

The successful candidate will act as a key trading resource, driving opportunity identification / capture, via understanding supply/demand balance, arbitrage analysis, tracking of specific commodity movements, import/exports, trade flow analysis, and blending opportunities. This includes linking with your fellow trading analysts across the globe and across the barrel. The key deliverables include:

  • Developing and presenting ongoing/unique trade strategies, connecting market fundamentals with proprietary insights, utilizing advanced analytics in conjunction with supply and demand models.
  • Providing economic analysis for opportunity evaluation and capture learnings from missed opportunities.
  • Supporting derivatives trading and policy with analysis of new and existing usage of derivative instruments.
  • Developing strong collaborative relationships with key trading partners, both domestically and globally, in order to drive trade execution and value creation 
  • Acting as power-user of strategic tools that support trading activities: Data systems, bespoke analytical tools, Eikon, SAP
  • Contributing to special projects, strategy studies, and market entries.
  • Completing analysis and reporting for trading performance. Support annual plan development.
  • Supporting Trading Management on ad-hoc business issues.
  • Back-filling for Traders as needed

What you will do

  • Hold a BS, BBA in engineering, mathematics, physical sciences, economics, finance, business (or equivalent)
  • Be interested in trading, supply chain optimization, and business strategy
  • Have the ability to forecast and assess impact of business decisions
  • Be able to demonstrate the ability to collaborate effectively with multi-national and cross-functional teams
  • Be able to demonstrated leadership paired with strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Be able to make recommendations based on analysis

About You

  • Experience and knowledge of physical and paper crude oil markets
  • Experience and knowledge of derivatives, risk evaluation and management techniques, or financial analyses 
  • Demonstrated experience in effective two-way communication with internal and external customers (oral, written, presentation, listening).
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills 
  • Strong drive. motivation amd continuous improvement mindset
  • Solid proficiency in the use of computers, inclusive of programming skills across Python, R, SQL, Tableau and SAP programs
