Job Description

The Windows Infrastructure team own the end user experience at Maven, managing technology and facilities to help our users achieve greater productivity. To achieve these goals, the team owns responsibility for the office and desktop environment, communication and collaboration systems, telephony, and more.

The Windows Engineer ensures that Maven’s employees have everything they need to be successful and productive on their desks, in the data centre, and at their fingertips. In conjunction with the rest of the Windows Infrastructure team, the Windows Engineer has responsibility for Windows desktop and server environments, virtualization, communication and collaboration systems, telephony, and more. Maven is undergoing a technological transition; updating our existing infrastructure and equipping it for our next stage of growth. Your Role

  • Manage the installation and configuration of desktop computing solutions, including thin clients and Virtual Desktops.
  • Participate in a rotation providing first-level support for the Windows and Linux desktop environments, and Windows server environment
  • Improve the environment through automation and standardisation
  • Coordinate and execute trader desk moves, set up desks for new staff
  • Create, follow, and update procedural documentation
  • Assume responsibility for Incidents and Requests using our Jira request system
  • Configure telephones, printers, and other common office technology

Skills and Experience Needed For This Role

  • 5+ years of supporting Windows desktops and servers in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong knowledge of Windows desktop and server Operating Systems (Windows 10, Windows Server 2012>2022), Active Directory concepts, and other common Windows infrastructure topics (file permissions, DFS, DNS, DHCP, etc)
  • Familiarity with configuration and maintenance of desktop and server hardware, and VMware vSphere virtualization, Storage Arrays such as Nimble, Pure
  • Experience with Telephony such as Speakerbus or similar products
  • Experience with Microsoft Office 365 software, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams
  • Experience using Python and/or Powershell to automate routine administrative tasks
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, whereby understanding the logic of the technology is key. Able to troubleshoot without material.
  • Excellent people skills
  • Knowledge of Linux is a plus
  • Familiarity with ITIL concepts is a plus
